7-segment LCD displays
As the name suggests, this type of display uses 7 LCD segments to display characters. 7-segment LCD displays are used to display numeric characters 0-9, a dash, and a dot, which forms a separate, essentially eighth segment. Depending on the usage, the body of the display can be designed to display one or multiple characters.
This type of display is used, for example, in various measuring devices, digital clocks, alarm clocks, and similar devices.
