YDLIDAR lidars are manufactured by Shenzhen EAI Technology Co., Ltd., which was established in 2015. It is a national high-tech enterprise focusing on intelligent sensors and solutions. So far, the company has got dozens of awards and certificates, such as "National High-tech Enterprise", "Shenzhen High-tech Enterprise", "Excellent Service Robot Enterprise Award", "Shenzhen Top Ten Key Parts Enterprise" and "Excellent Product Award" and has more than 120 core independent intellectual property rights in the field of smart sensors and robotic technology.
The abbreviation LIDAR stands for "light detection and ranging" or, more recently, "laser imaging, detection, and ranging". Furthermore, in our texts, the term "lidar" is used as a generic term.More about YDLIDAR
Lidar measures the distance between itself and surrounding objects either in a plane or in space. The result of the measurement is a point cloud that can be used in the navigation of robotic vacuum cleaners, autonomously guided vehicles (AGV), service robots and the like.
The portfolio of this brand includes:
- 2D triangulation lidars – the lidar receiver uses a sensor with N pixels. When a laser beam irradiates an object, the reflected radiation, after being focused by the optics, falls on one of the pixels. The distances and angles between the laser, the sensor optics and the sensor pixels are precisely defined, allowing the use of goniometric equations to calculate the distance between the object and the lidar.
- 2D time of flight (ToF) lidars – the laser periodically emits short light pulses in the infrared area. The light reflected from the object is detected by a photodetector. Lidar measures the time between the emitted pulse and the time when the reflection was detected. The part of the lidar, where the sensor and laser are located, rotates around the z-axis. Thus, lidar measures distance from objects in the xy plane.
- Solid-state systems – these are non-moving sensing systems that allow determining the position in space and measuring the distance or height of objects. They have a limited scanning angle of around 100°. They are mainly used in robotic vacuum cleaners and robotic hands in the industry. Read more
