They are designed especially for automobile industry - reliable and rugged for high current operations and within the wide range of operating temperature. The case dissipates heat which is made on the chip, what allows to work with higher current values and minimizes light losses caused by self-heating at the same time. It can be used for mass assembling.

There are 4 related and very important criteria when designing:
- Optical aspect
Optical aspect considers luminous intesity and LED´s emitting characteristics. Defines the need of additional elements as reflectors or lenses. - Mechanical aspect
Defines construction´s dimensions considering requirements of other potencial optical elements, placing of a device and determinises application of suitable materials. - Thermal aspect
Thermal draft defines amount of generated heat into ambient environment and must minimize the thermal resistance value. The construction should be able to assure minimum of selfheating. FLUX LED junction temperature must not get over 125°C. LED´s over selfheating causes unacceptable cut-down of luminous flux. - Electrical aspect
Electric draft defines suitable current and must assure the most acceptable range of current values even if supply voltage and ambient temperature conditions are adverse. It must be electro-static discharge protective but also must be able to protect against pre-load and reducing voltage. LED´s reliability and life time decreases, when values of operating current are close to marginal values. Drive current between 10mA-30mA are recommended for long term performance.(operation at current below 10mA and more than 40mA is not recommended) whereby LED´s peak forward current is up to 150mA.
