The Sensirion STS4x Temperature Sensor Family
This family features the STS4L-AD1B-R3 sensor and the STS40 series. As of now, the STS41 series and its automotive version, the STS41A, are still in development. The STS4L, STS40, and STS41 sensors all share the same datasheet, differing only in accuracy levels.
Features of the STS4x series temperature sensors
- Measurement range -40 to 125 °C
- Three measurement modes
- High precision (high repeatability, 3 sigma = 0.04 °C)
- Medium precision (medium repeatability, 3 sigma = 0.07 °C)
- Low precision (low repeatability, 3 sigma = 0.1 °C)
- Three I2C addresses: STS4x-A (0x44), STS4x-B (0x45), STS4x-C (0x46)
- Communication speed up to 1 MHz
- Supply voltage 1.0 to 3.6 V
- Average supply current at 3.3 V and one measurement per second
- 2.2 µA (high repeatability)
- 1.2 µA (medium repeatability)
- 0.4 µA (low repeatability)
Development support
Sensirion offers the SEK-STS40-CD1B development kit, which includes three STS40-CD1B sensors on a flexible PCB, a SEK-SensorBridge, and ControlCenter software. Source codes for a generic driver and an Arduino library are available on Sensirion’s GitHub.
Applications
The Sensirion STS4x series temperature sensors are ideal for air quality monitors and thermostats. They also provide a great alternative to PTC thermistors, including the popular but discontinued NXP KTY81 and KTY82 series.
We’ve added the Sensirion STS4L-AD1B-R3 temperature sensor to our inventory, ensuring it’s readily available for your temperature measurement and air quality control applications. Other sensors from the STS4x series can be ordered on request.
