SMART
Apacer provides SSDWidget, SMART software for Windows and Linux OS running on PC with x86 and x86-64 architecture processor for free. Next option for reading SMART attributes from SSD is open source Smartmontools, which is available for Linux (x86-64, arm64, armel, armhf, x86, mips, mipsel, powerpc, ppc64el, s390x) and Windows (x86, x86-64). For more information about Apacer SMART solution, please read our previous article.DRAM cache
SFD25A, SM210-25 and SM130-25 series have integrated DRAM as a write cache for improved performance and write data efficiency. Though in the most cases it’s unlikely to happen, data loss might potentially occur, if a sudden power loss takes place before the cached data in DRAM is flushed into NAND flash memory. Solution to overcome this potential problem is correctly designed power supply, which provides enough time to finish write operation in case of sudden power loss.Device Sleep Mode
DEVSLP allows SSD to enter into a mode with power consumption about 5 mW, which is one or two orders of magnitude less power than a traditional idle (250mW for SM210-25, 128GB model). In traditional low-power modes, SATA link still needs to be powered on in order to allow the device to receive a wake-up command. With DEVSLP, rarely used pin 3 of the SATA power plug is used for the DEVSLP signal instead of providing 3.3 V power. This signal then sends SSD to DEVSLP mode and also wakes up the drive.
SFD25A series
uses SLC flash technology to meet the most demanding industrial and military requirements. It provides storage capacities from 8 to 256GB. 128GB high speed version offers sustained read/write performance 530/445MB/s and 82K/76K random read/write 4K IOPs. It uses DRAM cache, contains models with or without DEVSLP mode and provides 23 400 program/erase cycles.
SU120-25 series uses Apacer proprietary SLC-Lite technology. It utilizes MLC flash to simulate the performance and durability of SLC flash. This design provides a cost-performance balance between SLC and MLC flash types, making SU120-25 an ideal alternative solution for mission-critical embedded and industrial applications.
This series doesn’t use DRAM cache, which makes it more immune against data loss during sudden power failure. Proper design of power supply is still important but in this case it is sufficient to keep power up for several milliseconds in order to allow SSD firmware to store metadata for later rebuilding. Series provides storage capacities from 8 to 128GB. 128GB model offers sustained read/write performance 405/160MB/s and 30K/23K random read/write 4K IOPs. It provides solid 9000 program/erase cycles and contains models with or without DEVSLP mode.
SM210-25 series uses MLC flash technology. It offers storage capacities from 32GB to 512GB. 128GB model offers sustained read/write performance 510/380MB/s and 81K/79K random read/write 4K IOPs. It uses DRAM cache; all models support DEVSLP and provide 2 200program/erase cycles. SM130-25 series uses MLC flash technology. It offers storage capacities 512GB and 1TB. 512GB model offers sustained read/write performance 520/500MB/s and 91K/89K random read/write 4K IOPs. It uses DRAM cache. It uses DRAM cache; contains models with or without DEVSLP mode and provides 1700 program/erase cycles.
