Were you influenced by regulation of fluorinated greenhouse gases in aerosols?

EU 517/2014 directive banned producers to use fluorinated greenhouse gases (HFCs) in a vast majority of industry segments and only a clearance sale of stocked goods at distributors is being allowed. We informed you about that in our recent article.

As for sprays for electronics, this directive severely hit non-flammable dust-removal sprays (Dust Off) and freezing sprays (Freeze).

The result was that practically every producer producing similar sprays was searching for a suitable formula to replace forbidden agents, while keeping original valued properties of these sprays – non-flammability, safety, yield, relatively stable pressure, etc.

This effort, at company Kontakt Chemie, resulted into 3 new or upgraded products:

Dust Off Improved formula – overall very similar to original Dust Off spray, however, based on different substances (HFO-1234ze).

Dust Off One – brand new product based on non-flammable CO2 absorbed in an active carbon. The result is great yield, relatively stable pressure, high flow (comparable to original Dust Off HF – „High Flow“) and a possibility of operation in any position, even upside down. At this spray you may be surprised that even though the can is completely empty, it still has some weight because of active carbon content. The spray has a high yield, it´s just not easy to estimate the remaining content by weighing in one´s hand.

Freeze 75 Improved Formula – taking properties into consideration, it is again very similar to the original Freeze 75 spray. The only difference is that it is based on new substances (HFO-1234ze).

Unfortunately, new substances and/or more demanding production process result in higher price of these sprays. In case you don´t necessarily need the most safe non-flammable version, it´s possible to use  Dust Cleaner spray.
