Fluke 773 – Clamp Milliammeter for Greater Efficiency and Minimizing Downtime

The Fluke 773 process milliammeter is a precise, versatile, and easily portable measuring device that measures 4 to 20 mA signals significantly faster than traditional multimeters without interrupting the loop. This allows you to troubleshoot live equipment without the need to power it down.

With its unique mA scale function, the Fluke 773 allows you to:

  • Measure mA signals without interrupting the loop and send the signal to another device for recording measurements
  • Simultaneously measure mA in a 24 V powered circuit to power and test transmitters
  • Apply a mA input signal to a device and measure its 4 to 20 mA output on devices like valves or mA isolators

The Fluke 773 can also act as a source while measuring direct current (DC) voltages, making it handy for troubleshooting input and output voltage devices that accept signals of 1 to 5 V or 0 to 10 V.

Another great feature is that the upper measuring part of this sturdy device can be detached and used as a remote measuring clamp adapter. It is connected to the main body via an extension cable, making it easier to take measurements in tight spaces.

Plus, the Fluke 773 milliammeter is perfect for troubleshooting transmitters, valves, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs). It lets you connect to the mA loop, even in a traditional serial workflow, for measurement, transmission, or simulation of the control system. It non-invasively measures up to 99,0 mA, including signals of 10 to 50 mA commonly found in older control systems.

Key benefits of the Fluke 773:

  • Measures 4 to 20 mA signals without "breaking the loop"
  • Sources 4 to 20 mA signals for testing control system I/O or I/Ps
  • Measures 4 to 20 mA signals with in-circuit measurement
  • Simultaneously measures mA in a 24 V powered circuit to power and test transmitters
  • Sources output mA signals in a linear ramp or with 25% step output
  • Sources DC voltage for testing input devices that accept 1 to 5 volt or 0 to 10 volt signals
  • Provides voltage output in a linear ramp or 25% step output

“From what we’ve seen in practical reviews, the Fluke 773 is really helpful for troubleshooting current loops, working with controllers in buildings, and calibrating different energy meters. It allows you to power the loop, which makes it easy to verify new wiring quickly. Plus, it can quickly pinpoint whether a device has a faulty output or if the PLC module is the problem. The best part? You don’t have to interrupt the circuit to figure out why there’s no voltage. Customers also appreciate its battery life, which is a big plus. Overall, the Fluke 773 is a must-have tool, not just for getting new I/Os up and running, but especially for regular service and maintenance,” said Martin Brestovič, Product Manager at SOS electronic.
