Do you know how to say relay in Japanese? … FUJITSU

FUN but REAL: As the Greek gods have their permanent address on Olympus, Japanese gods live on Fuji. And thus it cannot be just a coincidence that our relays are called Fujitsu.
This is an archive article published 06/07/2018. Some information may no longer be up to date and in line with the current state. Please contact us in case of interest.

Yes, we have to admit that the relays are not divine (they are made by skilled Japanese or their even more sophisticated machines), but they are definitely great...
Japanese precision is legendary and we just have to confirm it. We have no clue how to say "claim" in Japanese, we even think that the Japanese do not even have such word.

It happened to us that after the first order after signing the contract (where we agreed that we accept a maximum of 0.1% of defective relays in the shipment), the Japanese sent us one free defective relay for every thousand relays - the way we wanted it. If you heard about it as a joke, the joke got real after our order. : )

It is astounding that the relay has been invented much earlier (the year 1835 is generally respected) before the Fujitsu headquarters was powered:
Shiodome City Center
1-5-2 Higashi-Shimbashi,  Tokyo

At that time, a national isolation policy culminated in Japan, including the banning of Japanese border crossings and the ban on the import of foreign books (including datasheets of American and German relays).

In 1853, American commodore Matthew Perry forced the Japanese government to open several ports to foreign ships under the threat of artillery. This incident has greatly weakened the authority of the government and led to its gradual fall. Macuhita became the new emperor. He ended the 200-year isolation of Japan and introduced a series of reforms that made Japan a modern state.

At the same time, he called the experts from the West to create or innovate the railways and industry, the army, the fleet, and the architecture. They brought the aforementioned datasheets with them. When the Japanese saw them, they said that they could create even better relay. And they did exactly as they said.

Speaking of Japanese from Fujitsu, you should have seen them last year. They celebrated the 100th anniversary of the production of relays. They looked liked nothing extra happened. Just work and work. They were like: “no, thanks, I’m not thirsty”, ... because of the quality etc... We told them that it’s a pity, they could have a little fun, but it was just fine for us - we will again have only good quality relay.

In the commemorative duel, Tesla versus Edison, the Japanese from Fujitsu were on Edison's side and stayed there until today. In fact, they produce only relays with DC coils and moreover, in recent years, they have invested a lot in the development of the relay for switching large direct currents, large direct voltages - suitable especially for photovoltaic solar power plants. E.g. FTR-K3-PV

Another DC domain is cars. (The alternating gasoline is nonsense.) Fujitsu excels here as well. Wide range of relays for PCB for electric control of windows, locks, wipers, seats, etc. The FTR-Px series has a wide range of temperatures - from harsh frosts to unbearable heat and currents ranging from 25 to 45A.

Another place where DC dominates is a telecom exchange, but Fujitsu does not excel here. It is the emperor! Last but not least, in the field of switching large currents - somewhere between 8A and 16A, Fujitsu is doing very well. Here we are proud on our JS or FTR-Kx

Experience the Japanese precision at first hand or even better, on your own PCB.
