New Weller soldering tips of XNT series can handle both, small and big joints

One PCB and so many various joints…. but what to solder it with? Modern tips with improved heat transfer can simplify many tasks. I.e. high quality tip in conjunction with a good soldering tool and a station can handle wide variety of joints, including the big ones requiring high power without using too robust tip.

Naturally, it´s still valid, that the tip width (size) should approximately match the size of the soldered joint. In practice, however, perhaps nobody wants to change the soldering tips every while. In cases where the given PCB doesn´t contain too different joints, we usually solder the whole PCB with 1-2 tips sizes.

We can do this if the given station really maintains the set temperature (on the tip, not on the heating element) and if it features good thermal transfer. In this case, it’s not necessary to set the temperature unnecessarily high only to keep the “thermal reserve” for big joints.

Also, still smaller SMT components can be seen on PCBs, so it’s necessary to use smaller tips but with excellent heat transfer.

XT and XNT series tips belong into the group of so-called „Fast response technology” from Weller. XNT series is suitable for small to mid-size joints and XT series can handle even very big joints requiring enormous heat delivery.

XNT series also represents a newer alternative to well-proven LT series tips and it can be used with hand tools: WXP65, WP65 and new WTP90, which is a part of the WT1010 set.

As WXP65 and WTP90 tools are becoming a new standard (to a classic WP/WSP80), we decided to incorporate several XNT series tips into our stable stock offer.
