For a box to fit well in hand, it usually needs to have the appropriate size and shape. And it would be ideal if accessories were also available. Although wireless technologies are increasingly being used, the classic "cable" still has its advantages, especially in industry.
Hammond designed a new 1552 series of universal enclosures, which are also suitable for the construction of various handheld controllers, bearing all of this in mind.
This is a series of 50mm enclosure models with three different lengths (70, 110 and 150mm) and two different box heights (22 and 30mm).
An interesting fact is that the higher 30mm version has skewed sidewalls on the bottom part of the enclosure. As a result, even such high enclosure fits your hand very well.
Another interesting point is that if we compare two models of the 1552 series, which have the same length and width and differ only in height (22/30mm), we find that they use the same upper part and the difference is only in the lower part. Thus from a certain point of view, they are modular.
This means that you have a much more free space in developing the device in terms of the use of components with various heights. The PCB can have the same size and shape in both cases since the plastic spacers for the PCB mounting are on the top of the box. The 30mm high version of the box also has spacers for PCB on a bottom part.
The entire 1552 series is designed to be used as a control device, so a wall bracket and high-quality, robust plastic gland made of elastic TPE is also available, allowing 2-6mm diameter cables to be used seamlessly. A look at the gland says that due to its size and shape, it provides significant cable support and kink protection.
The enclosure holder can be mounted not only on the wall but also on the target device or other panel and allows you to easily "park" the enclosure as well as remove it from the holder without using tools. This is ideal for applications where the enclosure is used for the construction of various machine and equipment controllers.
The 1552 series is made of ABS class UL94HB and, as we are used to at Hammond, it is available in both light grey and black colour.
