For more than 70 years, ESKA Erich Schweizer GmbH has been developing and manufacturing fuses at its headquarters in Kassel under the “Made in Germany” quality label. ESKA offers fuses manufactured following international standards IEC / EN 60127, UL 248-14 and DIN as well as non-standard fuses. We’ve chosen the most popular series of 5x20mm cartridge fuses for our warehouse:
● 520.600: EN 60127-2-2, type F (quick-acting), low breaking capacity (35A)
● 522.500: EN 60127-2-3, type T (time lag) low breaking capacity (35A)
It is not possible to recommend correct fuse without detailed information about your application, but ESKA provides at least general guidelines for selecting the right fuse:
● FF – Very fast-acting fuses are intended as short-circuit protection for semiconductors (diodes, thyristors, triacs, etc.) and for devices for which fast-acting fuses are still too slow.
● F – Quick-acting fuses are used for protection of a device without inrush current during switching on and also for the devices where high overcurrent or high short-circuit current must be interrupted quickly.
● M – Medium time-lag fuses are used mainly when only small inrush currents have to be taken into consideration.
● T – Time-delayed fuses are used for devices with high inrush current during switching on and slowly dropping to a steady value, for example when starting engines.
● TT – Super time-lag fuses are used when the expected current surges will be greater than those which current surge resisting fuses can withstand.
FF, M and TT types are not standardized; ESKA manufactures them according to their company standards.
Recommended series of fuses for specific applications:
