A new family of EA Plug OLED displays and its first representative - EA PlugL, was introduced to you recently in our article - EA PlugL – OLED Display with USB and Touch Panel.
The latest and smallest addition to the family is the PLUGS102-6. With a display area of 36 x 25 mm, it offers 102 x 64 pixels resolution.
All the basic benefits of OLED technology are most likely well known. Electronic Assembly “packed” them with a convenient USB interface, a capacitive touch panel and a high-quality black glass frame like a tablet.
Like the EA PlugL, the latest EA PlugS supports easy-to-use "high level" graphics commands, so even though it's not an "intelligent display", it still provides a significantly easier development of the graphical environment in comparison to standard graphic displays.
The display brightness can be adjusted by software and power is either 5V via USB or 3.3 / 5V from external power. The display module also includes a mini speaker.
EA PlugL and EA PlugS are available in 2 versions:
1. EA PLUGS102-6GTC with USB and ZIFF connector for FPC cable
2. EA PLUGS102-6GTCZ with USB, ZIFF and screw terminal and 26-pin IDC connector for I/O Pins
Likewise, the EA PLUGL128-6GTC and EA PLUGL128-6GTCZ are also available.
When to use a value-added display?
As we can see in the EA PLUG series, they are significantly easier to use than standard OLED displays, as graphical commands can be used to develop a graphical interface without the need to develop complex graphics routines.
It is a known fact that development or developer time is expensive, and many times the timely launch of the product is decisive for its success or failure on the market. The reality shows that it is cheaper to use such a smarter display, especially for smaller and middle series.
As we are used to with the displays of Electronic Assembly, their products are traditionally available for many years, as the manufacturer is aware of the importance of maintaining long-term availability, so that the developer does not have to look for a replacement or redesign their equipment every few years.
