Matrix displays use segments arranged in a grid to display characters. The number of segments is determined by the size of the display and can vary. This type of display is used to display arbitrary characters and shapes. Depending on the internal arrangement and connection of the LED diodes, it can be a matrix LED display with a common anode for the column or a common cathode for the column.
This type of display is commonly used, for example, in numeric and direction displays on public transport buses, information boards at airports, train stations, and similar locations.
SOS electronic offers matrix LED displays from the brand Kingbright and others.
