The Košice Peace Marathon is traditionally one of the highlights of the running season in Europe. Last year, more than 17,000 runners participated in this event. "In 2023, we listed record participation at our marathon. We are very pleased that the Košice Peace Marathon is gaining more recognition among runners worldwide. Our international ranking also helps us in this regard. Our marathon ranked 13th among EU marathons and 21st overall in the world. All the higher-ranked events are in cities with over two million inhabitants, which is a great honor for us as a city with less than 250,000 residents," said Branislav Koniar, director of the Košice Peace Marathon, evaluating its success.
On October 6, 2024, thousands of runners will flood the city of Košice, tackling the course of the Košice Peace Marathon. This event also serves as the Slovak Republic Marathon Championships and will feature well-known faces from Slovakia and abroad.

The demographic composition of runners at the marathon is diverse, with more and more international athletes discovering the Košice Peace Marathon. This is due to its flat terrain and favorable fall weather conditions for runners.
Once a year, the entire metropolis of eastern Slovakia comes alive with the Košice Peace Marathon. Thanks to its rich history, the event has a large number of fans and supporters in and around the city, creating a unique atmosphere for the race.
