The table below summarizes the parameters of M.2 2280 SSDs based on BiCS5 112-layer 3D NAND memory. It is sorted by SSD capacity and the number of random 4KB block writes (IOPS write 4K).
From the table, we can draw the following conclusions:
- SSDs with PCIe 4.0 [x4] interface are the fastest but also have the highest power consumption. Currently, they are available only for the ambient temperature range of 0...+70°C. The minimum capacity is 480GB.
- SSDs with a capacity of 240GB and more, using the PCIe 3.0 [x4] interface, are significantly faster in all aspects compared to SSDs with a SATA interface. They are also available for a wider ambient temperature range of -40...+85°C.
- The SV220-M280 series with PCIe 3.0 [x4] interface provides the best compromise between speed, TBW, and power consumption.
- In terms of TBW and power consumption, the SV250-M280 series stands out as the best option.
