Black antivandal switches with dead-front backlight by Schurter
Schurter has extended the series of MSM antivandal pushbutton switches with black switches. To illuminate them, they used a ring made of unique black translucent plastic, which gives the buttons an elegant and modern look. Monochrome and full-colour RGB versions are available.
"The backlight itself is discreetly 'hidden' under the dark surface of the switch. When inactive, the switch appears solid black, and when the backlight is activated, the ring lights up in the selected colour. The black colour does not distort the colour of the ring or limit the intensity of the backlight. This type of backlight is called 'dead-front'. You may have come across this type of light on some car models with LED lights.” says Pavol Buhla, manager of product specialists from SOS electronic.
TIP: In the documentation, the manufacturer refers to the MSM Illuminated series of switches with dead-front backlight as RD (Ring Illumination <Dead Front>).
Advantages and features of antivandal switches of Schurter’s MSM Illuminated series
The use of antivandal switches of the MSM Illuminated series is suitable in devices that are controlled by many users and aesthetics and safety are a priority. These can be medical devices, but also outdoor agricultural machines, because the button has a high degree of protection IP67, high impact resistance and resistance to UV light.
Dead-front switches from the MSM series are available in four sizes: 16, 19, 22 and 30 mm.
Depending on the microswitch used, they can switch current from 100 mA up to 10 A at a voltage of 30 Vdc to 250 Vac. The standard backlight voltage is 24 Vdc. Upon the agreement with the manufacturer, under certain conditions, it is possible to deliver switches with a different voltage.
