The wireless M-Bus Range Extender is a compact and cost-effective device that collects messages from utility meters and forwards them to a remote server via LoRaWAN. It is an ideal solution for automatic metering.
The new wireless module iM282A from IMST GmbH enables up to 10 km range in the license-free 2.4 GHz band. It uses the LoRa modulation with frequency spread and is suitable even for battery-powered applications.
The only available radio chip for LoRa on the market has been the SX1272/76 from Semtech up to now. Things have changed and company IMST came up with the new type of radio chip SX1280 which can work on 2.4GHz band and decided to use this chip for their new LoRaWAN Long Range module, the iM282A-L.
With the new LoRa modulation technology, many important barriers for low power long range radio communication were destroyed. This technology promises high range combined with low power consumption, which is ideal for IoT applications.
